Many things influence peoples political attitudes and their socialization. Family being the biggest factors. Others are ones peers, social group at school, and the media.

Public opinion and scientific polling are big factors during elections and debates. During the debate process, the candidates look at public opinion and may change their stances or answers to questions based on if it will be appealing to the public or not. Scientific polling can be used during the elections. Voters may see these polls and that may factor into their personal vote.

People are now connected and democracy has spread to many more places. This has led to many more people being involved in politics in not only the U.S. but the world. America has now pushed its own policies onto other nations of the world.

This includes political ideas and beliefs that determine what is good for society.

Liberal ideals tend to want a more regulated market, meaning: allow the federal government to intervene on its own will to “level” the playing field. Conversely, conservative ideals to want a more open market, and that everyone should do what they best can in order to build their own success, with little government intervention.

There are many specific voting rights stated in the Constitution. Overall, it states qualifications voters must have, how often certain elections happen and that the rights of a citizens vote should not be determined by race and sex. It also is very clear that citizens 18 and over are also allowed to vote.

Some states try to pass laws to make it easier to register in turn to make it easier to vote. But, many people still have apathy towards the government and see their votes as not counting. So, because of this, voter turnout has been in a steady decline for a while.

U.S voter turnout should be at 100%, but it is not for many reasons. Some elections are not very competitive so people are not determined to get out there and vote. Also some people complain that tuesday is a busy day of the week so they cannot get out and vote. Another one is low income people who don’t have transportation will not get out and vote if it is bad weather. All of these reasons are pathetic, but they are all valid reasons as to why voter turnout is not at full force.
